Tig Lammax is a small guest house at our family home where you will be made welcome by Moira and her two dogs, Pedro (13) and Poppy (a nervous 18 mths).

The house is conveniently located in mid-Cork, halfway between Cork City and Killarney, just a few minutes off from the N22. We are a 10 minute drive from the town of Macroom where there are plenty of shops and supermarkets (Dunnes, Supervalu, Lidl and Aldi) as well as a bus stop for No 40A bus which travels from Tralee via Macroom and Cork city to Rosslare.

We are in a rural location, farming country, mainly cattle (for which the region is known), it is, therefore, quiet, other than the occasional farm machinery passing. It is ideal for those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Local sights

There is plenty of interest in the especially for walkers and cyclists.  A walk across The Gearagh is a must as it is only 10 minutes walk from the house.  There are more extensive walks within easy reach in Millstreet Country Park, Farran Woods and Warrenscourt Woods. Further afield, there is the beautiful Gougane Barra.

Historical Sites

For those interested in local history, we are close to Beal na mBlath, the site of the assassination of Michael Collins in 1922 and to the Kilmichael Ambush Site where, in 1920, a group of IRA volunteers under Tom Barry ambushed and killed 17 members of the Royal Irish Constabulary Auxiliaries.

Touring

More details about all of these and many more places can be found on the Locality page where you will also find links to our recommended four-day tours of Cork for which we are most conveniently placed.

Corcoran's Pod (sleeps 3 or 2 + 2)

The pod contains it's own toilet and wash basin together with a double bed and a double sofa bed. Guests may use the shower in the outhouse next to the main house where there are also clothes-washing facilities and a kitchen where you can cook your own meals.

There is also a washing machine (€3 per use) and a dryer (€3 per use) which you may use - just ask Moira to set it up for you.
