1. Inputs
Enter the following fields in the VMG Calculator:
- Current Position (Lat, Long): Example:
53.35, -6.26 - Destination (Lat, Long): Example:
51.90, -8.48 - Port Name: Optional. Check “Remember Port” to save it.
- Boat Name: Optional reference field.
- Heading & Speed: True heading (°) and speed (kn).
- AW Angle & Speed: Apparent Wind angle (°) and speed (kn).
- True Wind Angle & Speed: Optional reference.
- Current Set & Drift: Water current direction (°) and speed (kn).
- VMG Mode: Check to calculate based on great-circle course.
2. Buttons
- Calculate: Computes VMG and shows the summary.
- Toggle Dark Mode: Switch light/dark theme.
- Clear Log: Delete all saved results.
- Download CSV: Export results for Notion or Excel.
3. VMG Summary
After clicking Calculate, the summary line shows:
- COG/SOG: Course over ground / Speed over ground (kn)
- VMG: Course to steer / VMG speed (kn) with trend arrow (▲ increasing, ▼ decreasing, – neutral)
- Distance: Distance to destination (nm)
4. Saved Log
All calculations are automatically saved in a table:
- Time of calculation
- Port / Boat Name
- VMG (° / kn)
- AW (° / kn)
- TW (° / kn)
- COG / SOG
- Distance
- Current Position
- ETA to destination
Delete entries individually using the red ✖ button.
5. Notes
- All inputs (except current position) are remembered automatically.
- PayPal link allows you to support the app.
- CSV export lets you use results in Notion, Excel, or other software.
